About Euterria
Euterria is a free platform that helps climate and environmental advocacy organizations across the San Francisco Bay Area collaborate and share resources. Organizations use it to find partners, learn from peers, and stay visible to one another — a coordination layer for the sector. You can see how it works on our home and use cases pages.
Nonprofits rarely have the incentives to collaborate that academics and companies do, even when they are working on different parts of the same problem. Our mission is to change that: to make collaboration between nonprofits seamless and genuinely useful, so organizations build on each other's expertise and community work instead of starting from scratch.
We are a team of Stanford graduates with backgrounds in environmental engineering, computer science, and earth science, and we care deeply about this work — we all build Euterria for free. We have received a development-phase grant from the TomKat Foundation and are incorporating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
The work
Over the past six months we have worked closely with design partners across the Bay, running user testing and onboarding organizations onto the platform. We are launching publicly soon, opening enrollment to the broader Northern California climate community.
Most of our design effort so far has gone into the data architecture and search experience that power Euterria (you can read how that works on our technology page). Now we want to bring the same care to the interface. We are looking for a developer with strong design intuition to make the whole experience feel smooth and effortless.
The scope spans the whole experience: polishing and standardizing the UI, designing the onboarding flow, shaping how resources are structured, how organizations discover one another, how people interact with our parsing pipeline, and how the collaboration forum works. Throughout, your designs should make the platform welcoming for non-technical users and steer them toward what matters most — search, sharing resources, and connecting with other organizations.
You will co-design with us in working sessions — sketching, testing, and refining together — directly inside our codebase and alongside the team. It is fully remote, and you choose whether to work synchronously or on your own hours. The initial contract is 60 hours of work, roughly 10 hours per week over six weeks (including time with us), and is renewable depending on the platform's needs once it wraps. The deliverable is an improved site, shipped to production.

What we're looking for
Must-haves
- A portfolio of strong UI/UX work. Please include it with your application.
- A track record of delivering quality work on fast timelines.
- Someone who works well independently and enjoys collaborating with a team.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing for accessibility and low technical literacy.
- Experience designing social network-style interfaces with search and connection features.
- Comfort working in our stack (Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, shadcn/ui).
- Prior work with climate, environmental, or nonprofit organizations.
